Background
Mindeo was created by biomedical engineer Xenia Kachur following a life-changing rock-climbing accident in 2016 that resulted in a serious brain injury. The injury affected her ability to think clearly, sleep, exercise, work, and connect normally with other people.
After conventional approaches failed to produce the recovery she was seeking, Kachur studied hundreds of scientific papers and consulted specialists across brain health, sports medicine, nutrition, mental health, and related disciplines. Her research focused on the physical and biological conditions that influence how the brain functions, including circulation, neuroinflammation, neuroplasticity, hormones, exercise, recovery, the immune system, gut-brain connection, and nervous-system regulation.
This research and personal experience led to the development of Mindeo and its signature SynapFit brain-body fitness session.
Mindeo opened its first brain fitness center in Seattle and has since begun expanding through additional independently operated locations. Its first Canadian location opened in North Vancouver under owner Mark Hatton, a two-time Olympian and Olympic coach.
Mindeo’s mission is to make effective brain-health knowledge and brain-body training accessible to ordinary people, not only elite athletes, research institutions, medical clinics, or people with access to specialized equipment.
The company’s broader premise is that brain health can be proactively trained. Mindeo helps clients work on the physical foundations that support cognitive ability, energy, mood, focus, resilience, and healthy aging.
Core product
Mindeo is built around five interconnected parts:
Brain Fitness Orientation — An educational and personalized orientation that explores the client’s goals, current challenges, history, daily-life experience, and potential program fit. The orientation explains relevant brain-health concepts and creates a starting roadmap.
SynapFit® — Mindeo’s signature coach-guided brain-body fitness session. SynapFit combines targeted movement, interval training, dual-tasking, gentle compression, dynamic cooling, heart-rate guidance, and red and near-infrared light.
Brain Fitness Programs — Structured programs completed over multiple weeks, usually 8-12 weeks. Sessions and supporting services are selected and personalized around goals such as clarity, energy, mood stability, stress resilience, focus, sleep, cognitive performance, recovery support, and cognitive longevity.
Measurement and reporting — Clients may complete cognitive assessments, daily-life check-ins, readiness checks, session-progress tracking, and Brain Fitness Reports covering areas such as cognitive ability, energy, mood, coordination, attention, memory, perception, and reasoning.
Maintenance and supporting tools — Clients can continue through maintenance memberships and may use complementary services or tools such as SynapFocus, SynapRhythm, guided focus or relaxation sessions, red-light sessions, cognitive games, and at-home support.
Mindeo describes BIITT, or Brain-Integrated Interval Training Technology, as the foundation of SynapFit.

Comparison to alternatives
vs. brain-training apps: Brain-training apps primarily ask users to practise cognitive tasks on a phone, tablet, or computer. Mindeo is an in-person, coach-guided and biophysical experience that combines cognitive challenge with movement, circulation, recovery, and other physiological inputs. Apps are generally less expensive and more convenient; Mindeo provides equipment, personalization, physical training, reporting, and human guidance.
vs. conventional gyms: Traditional gyms are designed primarily around cardiovascular fitness, strength, body composition, or athletic performance. Mindeo organizes the session around cognitive vitality, mental clarity, energy, mood, and resilience. Conventional gyms provide more exercise variety and independent access; Mindeo offers a highly structured and lower-impact experience with one-on-one guidance.
vs. personal training: Personal trainers typically focus on strength, mobility, conditioning, weight management, or sport-specific goals. Mindeo coaches guide a standardized brain-body training framework built around cognitive and physiological goals. Mindeo is not intended to replace conventional strength or mobility training when those are the client’s primary needs.
vs. medical and rehabilitation clinics: Mindeo is a non-medical fitness and wellness service. It does not diagnose medical conditions, provide medical treatment, or replace licensed rehabilitation. Medical and rehabilitation clinics are the appropriate setting for diagnosis, acute care, complex conditions, and treatment requiring licensed clinicians. Mindeo may serve as a complementary fitness resource for suitable adults.
vs. neurofeedback: Neurofeedback generally uses EEG measurements and real-time feedback to train patterns of brain activity. Mindeo primarily uses physical movement, physiological inputs, cognitive dual-tasking, coaching, and recovery tools.
vs. computerized cognitive rehabilitation: Computerized cognitive rehabilitation typically provides repeated exercises targeting specific cognitive skills. Mindeo combines cognitive challenge with a broader brain-body fitness session and focuses on the physical conditions that support daily cognitive functioning.
vs. meditation and relaxation apps: Meditation apps are inexpensive, accessible anywhere, and useful for self-guided relaxation or mindfulness. Mindeo combines relaxation and nervous-system support with physical exertion, cognitive challenge, specialized equipment, and individual coaching.
vs. boutique fitness studios: Boutique studios often deliver group-based, high-energy exercise experiences. Mindeo sessions are private, supported, personalized, seated, and designed not to leave the client physically depleted.
vs. red-light therapy studios: Red-light studios generally offer photobiomodulation as a standalone service. Mindeo incorporates red and near-infrared light into a broader brain-body program that may also include movement, cooling, compression, cognitive challenge, reporting, and coaching.
